Advancing Urology with Precision Technology
Our product portfolio for urological conditions comprises innovative and internationally renowned lithotripters, shock wave systems and urological X-ray workstations. These enable complex urological disorders such as urinary and kidney stones to be treated efficiently.
The Science Behind
Discover the Science behind Urology Lithotripsy
The first successful disintegration of kidney stones in a human body by shock wave application was performed in February 1980. Today, mechanical shock wave energy is introduced into the body by means of a transducer that is coupled to the patient's skin surface. As soon as the shock wave energy impacts on the kidney stone to be removed, the calculus is broken up into sand-like granular fragments which are flushed out of the body naturally during urination.

LEADERS IN UROLOGY CARE
Innovative products for urology
Since the introduction of non-invasive extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in the 1980s, stone therapy has evolved dramatically. Today, treatment focuses on personalized stone management, tailoring therapy to each patient’s needs. For these applications, STORZ MEDICAL provides innovative solutions and a specialized product portfolio. Its electromagnetic cylindrical source is the “heart” of the lithotripters, enabling precise in-line X-ray or ultrasound imaging for accurate stone localization.

Explore how Storz Urology products are the best treatments for kidney stones
A unique feature of the MODULITH® SLX-F2 shock wave system developed by STORZ MEDICAL is that the energy focus required to crush the stone can be perfectly matched with the size of the stone to be fragmented. This ensures enhanced therapy efficiency and minimum side effects.
